Book description
Weaving wartime intrigue, rural village life, and little-known historical facts about the role of carrier pigeons in WWII, Stephanie Graves continues the adventures of British pigeoneer Olive Bright, but as bitter cold weather forces her racing birds indoors in November 1941, Olive is assigned to a new role in the war effort - escorting none other than Lieutenant Commander Ian Fleming on his visit to the Brickendonbury Manor spy training center... As the weather turns bitterly cold in the dark days of November 1941, fewer pigeons are being conscripted for missions into occupied Europe and Olive fears her covert program may be dropped altogether. In fact, the new CO of the Baker Street intelligence operation at Brickendonbury Manor, Major Blighty, has expressed his doubts regarding her birds--not to mention Olive herself--and assigned her to a far more insignificant role: escort to a visiting officer of the Royal Navy Intelligence Special Branch. She's none too keen on her assignment or her charge--the aloof and arrogant Lieutenant Commander Ian Fleming--but the last place she expects to accompany him is to a séance. Self-proclaimed medium Velda Dunbar--new to the village of Pipley--has drawn fascination and skepticism after a very public channeling of a doomed seaman aboard the HMS Bartholomew, which she claims has sunk. Fleming remains tight-lipped about his reason for attending her séance, but his arrival with Olive raises eyebrows as she is still maintaining the ruse of dating Captain Jameson Aldridge. When murder occurs before her very eyes, Olive must trust her own instincts and not rule out anyone as a suspect--including the secretive Fleming--for one of them is harboring a hidden deadly agenda. Praise for A Courage Undimmed "A charming portrayal of village life, romance, and sacrifice set against the horrors of war." --Kirkus Reviews "Fascinating historical detail, as Graves paints a gritty picture of war on the home front. This portrait of sacrifice, bravery, and the unbreakable power of a community during WWII should win Graves new fans." --Publishers Weekly "Graves brings the classic British village alive like a warm hug, then deftly blends it with the espionage and intrigue of WWII. The historical facts, engaging mystery, and the clever and charming Olive Bright put this series on my list of auto-buys!" --Dianne Freeman, Agatha and Lefty award-winning author of The Countess of Harleigh mysteries "Another fabulous entry in a stellar historical mystery series! Seriously, this one has it all--a smart and witty heroine, well-drawn characters, insightful history, intricate mysteries, and a swoon-worthy romance. If you haven't yet made the acquaintance of sleuth Olive Bright, you really must remedy that ASAP." --Anna Lee Huber, USA Today bestselling author.

Does just what it says it does, good value, and stable! Love the fact it can download from the web as well!

It's the perfect fit for my audiobook needs. It does everything I was looking for and more when I listen to books. I've been using it for a few years and it's one of the must haves when I switch apps to a new phone.

I have a number of audiobooks of various formats and ages, collected over decades. I digitized them all to use on mobile devices before iPhones even existed, but obviously now I’d rather not carry a separate device around with me. MP3 Audiobook Player to the rescue! This app lets me load books wirelessly, even via WebDAV, and has excellent usability features like playback speed. It can also be the target of a timer on iOS, so you can set a bedtime timer and automatically stop playback when desired. I just love it, and immediately bought the full version after I saw what it could do.

Great app. Easy to use and extremely flexible in ways to update library. Very good functionality. Recommended.

I reviewed and tested many audio book players before committing to one. This is the one, save yourself sometime and try it first. It has many features and does everything I need. It even integrates with the Bluetooth player in the car and lets me push the controls on the steering wheel to rewind by 15 seconds if I missed something. You can also load audio books directly from the internet (URL) from a zip file. It even looks great! Solid app for $5. Probably worth 4-5 times this.

The default music player doesn’t make it easy to add audio books from mp3, you can do it but it’s a pain in the but. This app makes it easy! I have been using it for years and I have been getting the updates for free! After my 1 time purchase. I like this app so much I deleted the music app and just have this.

It does everything I need: nice clean interface, many ways to transfer files including direct to iPhone, search function makes it easy to find your content, can change the speed of the audio (and it’s pre-EQ and sounds fantastic). Unlike some other apps it always keeps my place and doesn’t randomly restart from the beginning of the audio file. It does everything I need. Bravo!

Used a other app but it did not support all the audio formats and did not remember where I stoped, this app does 👍👍👍

Great app, I’ve used many different audiobook apps that start out good, but then things go wrong even after paying. I have high hopes for this app. The two main things that made me go Pro were the ability to easily add a book cover and the bookmark feature.

I love this app, especially the shake function to restart playing + timer, as I listen to audiobooks during the night, and with this function I’m not wide awake again if I want to continue listening after the timer stopped. The app makes it also super easy to import audiobooks 👍👍👍

So user friendly and helpful with the importing features. The small details like choosing covers and making sections makes it so good.

After having many problems with the built-in audiobook player that comes with Apple products I was so happy to find this application. Not only does it accept MP3 files it joins them together. I have experienced numerous problems where an MP4 book will play in iTunes but would not play in the app that comes with my iPhone. This application plays them all flawlessly. And the increased speed is perfect. As one who consumes 2 to 3 audiobooks a week this is just what I needed.
