Learn (and love) the language of the landlocked in this bitingly funny illustrated guide to the common phrases and sentiments of the American Heartland, from the author of the McSweeney's series "A Guide to Midwestern Conversation." If you end an evening by slapping your thighs and saying, "Welp, I'll go ahead and get outta your hair," then you don't need this guide, but you sure as heck might like it. Full of common Midwestern phrases (and what they really mean behind the friendly facade), A Guide to Midwestern Conversation is an affectionate, self-deprecating look at the language of a people long defined by their kindness and reduced to their voting patterns. Written by born-and-bred Midwesterner Taylor Kay Phillips, it's a wink, a hug, and a firm handshake (with eye contact) to the millions of Americans who say soda and pop interchangeably and grew up doing tornado drills in school. Discover Midwestern conversational staples like: How to announce that you hate something beyond comprehension ("I didn't really care for it") What counts as "a short drive" (less than eight hours) Sports talk (starts early, doesn't end till we're six feet under)Describing the ultimate dream home ("It's got a finished basement")An ode to the Garage FridgeIncluding an array of guides, tips, and profiles of all the states included, A Guide to Midwestern Conversation is guaranteed to make Midwesterners (and their friends) laugh out loud, nod their heads, and ask if "anyone needs anything real quick while I'm up."
Does just what it says it does, good value, and stable! Love the fact it can download from the web as well!
It's the perfect fit for my audiobook needs. It does everything I was looking for and more when I listen to books. I've been using it for a few years and it's one of the must haves when I switch apps to a new phone.
I have a number of audiobooks of various formats and ages, collected over decades. I digitized them all to use on mobile devices before iPhones even existed, but obviously now I’d rather not carry a separate device around with me. MP3 Audiobook Player to the rescue! This app lets me load books wirelessly, even via WebDAV, and has excellent usability features like playback speed. It can also be the target of a timer on iOS, so you can set a bedtime timer and automatically stop playback when desired. I just love it, and immediately bought the full version after I saw what it could do.
Great app. Easy to use and extremely flexible in ways to update library. Very good functionality. Recommended.
I reviewed and tested many audio book players before committing to one. This is the one, save yourself sometime and try it first. It has many features and does everything I need. It even integrates with the Bluetooth player in the car and lets me push the controls on the steering wheel to rewind by 15 seconds if I missed something. You can also load audio books directly from the internet (URL) from a zip file. It even looks great! Solid app for $5. Probably worth 4-5 times this.
The default music player doesn’t make it easy to add audio books from mp3, you can do it but it’s a pain in the but. This app makes it easy! I have been using it for years and I have been getting the updates for free! After my 1 time purchase. I like this app so much I deleted the music app and just have this.
It does everything I need: nice clean interface, many ways to transfer files including direct to iPhone, search function makes it easy to find your content, can change the speed of the audio (and it’s pre-EQ and sounds fantastic). Unlike some other apps it always keeps my place and doesn’t randomly restart from the beginning of the audio file. It does everything I need. Bravo!
Used a other app but it did not support all the audio formats and did not remember where I stoped, this app does 👍👍👍
Great app, I’ve used many different audiobook apps that start out good, but then things go wrong even after paying. I have high hopes for this app. The two main things that made me go Pro were the ability to easily add a book cover and the bookmark feature.
I love this app, especially the shake function to restart playing + timer, as I listen to audiobooks during the night, and with this function I’m not wide awake again if I want to continue listening after the timer stopped. The app makes it also super easy to import audiobooks 👍👍👍
So user friendly and helpful with the importing features. The small details like choosing covers and making sections makes it so good.
After having many problems with the built-in audiobook player that comes with Apple products I was so happy to find this application. Not only does it accept MP3 files it joins them together. I have experienced numerous problems where an MP4 book will play in iTunes but would not play in the app that comes with my iPhone. This application plays them all flawlessly. And the increased speed is perfect. As one who consumes 2 to 3 audiobooks a week this is just what I needed.
