Book description
Both/And - An Audiobook Review
Huma Abedin's Both/And is a memoir that feels more like a conversation than a lecture, and the audiobook brings that intimacy to life. The narrator-Abedin herself-delivers every line with a quiet confidence that makes you feel as if she's speaking directly into your ear. Her voice carries the subtle cadences of someone who has spent years navigating high-stakes rooms and still retains an undercurrent of warmth and humor.
What sets this recording apart is how it balances the heavy weight of history with Abedin's personal narrative. From her first internship in the White House to witnessing pivotal moments like 9/11, the President's inauguration, and the Clinton campaign, she recounts events with vivid detail without losing sight of the people behind them-especially Hillary Clinton. The narrator's portrayal of Clinton as "a brilliant and caring leader" cuts through the noise of media caricature, offering a nuanced portrait that feels both respectful and honest.
The audiobook also excels in its exploration of identity. Growing up between India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the United States, Abedin weaves her cultural heritage into the fabric of her story with grace. She speaks candidly about faith, marriage, motherhood, and the often-turbulent journey with Anthony Weiner-her narrative here is raw, unfiltered, and ultimately redemptive.
Listening to Both/And feels like a masterclass in resilience. Abedin's message-that in an increasingly either/or world you can be both/and-is delivered with sincerity that inspires listeners of all ages. Whether you're a political enthusiast or simply searching for a powerful story of womanhood, this audiobook offers an engaging, thoughtful, and profoundly human experience.
