In short, he's a low-key hero who's basically a wobbly chess piece in a game of cosmic checkers. And then Brodar Kayne, the legendary warrior in the frozen north, is racing against time to keep an ancient evil from breaking free. The ancient evil is older than humanity, older than the Fade, older than the gods, and it plans to drown the world in blood. Classic villain with a cosmic existential dread vibe that screams, "Don't forget your tax forms, folks." The narrator's voice rises with the tension, making it feel like a live broadcast from a doomed weather station.
All in all, Dead Man's Steel is a rollicking adventure that manages to mix high-fantasy spectacle with the kind of political satire you'd expect from a council meeting after a dragon attack.
