the narration catches this perfectly this fragmented sense of self that comes with living too close to the edge of what's real cadigan's writing has this quality like she's thinking faster than she can write and the audiobook format somehow captures that urgency that breathless quality of someone trying to explain something they barely understand themselves
pathosfinder sounds clinical but it's not it's about finding the emotional truth in a world where truth itself has become negotiable where reality is just another program you can crash if you know the right code
this is early cadigan before she became a multiple arthur c. clarke award winner but you can feel the seeds of everything that made her great already planted here in this strange little book about a woman who chooses to dive deep into the collective unconscious rather than rot in a cell which when you think about it might be the most punk rock decision ever made
