Okay, so I just finished listening to Obsidio and wow-what a ride! If you've been following Kady and Ezra's story through the first two books, you're definitely going to want to stick around for this conclusion.
What really grabbed me about this audiobook was how it pulls together all the threads from Illuminae and Gemina. You've got Kady, Ezra, Hanna, and Nik crammed onto this ship with way too many refugees, barely surviving while they head back toward certain danger on Kerenza. Meanwhile, Kady's cousin Asha is down on the planet fighting the resistance, and there's this whole separate storyline with her and this guy Rhys from her past who shows up and complicates everything.
The format is exactly what you'd expect if you've listened to the other books-emails, IMs, security footage transcripts, that sort of thing. But somehow it never feels repetitive. The narrators really bring these characters to life, especially when you're switching between the space scenes and what's happening on the ground.
What struck me most was how the stakes feel so much higher here. You've got this sense that everyone's running out of time, resources are gone, and they're heading into what might be a completely lost situation. The authors don't pull punches with the ending either-some stuff goes down that'll definitely catch you off guard.
If you're into sci-fi that feels fresh and characters that actually grow throughout the series, this trilogy delivers. The audiobook format really makes the story pop, and you'll probably find yourself listening way longer than you planned to.
