Out of his jurisdiction, out of his depth, and very nearly out of his mind, Vimes must rely on nothing but stubborn instinct and razor-sharp wit.
Pratchett's prose, as always, is a masterclass in controlled chaos. The man could make a tax audit sound like an epic siege. Here, he blends satire and savagery with the ease of a seasoned butcher.
